RSS and How to Use RSS to Make Money

March 19th, 2008 by admin

You may already know that RSS stands for Remote Site Syndication, but what does that really mean to you and more importantly, how can you use RSS to help you make more money?

Simply put, RSS feeds are written in XML, a special mark up language much like html. That means that they have mechanisms included that identify structures in a document. The structures define the content and how that content will be displayed within that document. RSS is what makes big news websites possible: RSS files are used to create a data feed which will deliver headlines, links or virtually any other piece of information to a channel viewer application, commonly called a news reader.

These readers are subscribed to certain RSS feeds and constantly monitor them, alerting the user when every any new information has been added to the feed. So, how can you use this to your advantage as an internet marketer? Here are the most popular ways to integrate RSS feeds into your marketing effort: you can use RSS to replace any email marketing you are currently doing, take advantage of RSS feeds to drive traffic to your blog or sales site or create your own RSS feed so your messages and information show up on thousands of websites, blogs and desktops online.

Although many marketing gurus will claim that email marketing isn’t dead, with the advent of increasing spam complaints and filters coupled with the threat of viruses originating from an email, more and more people are leery of even opening your email. So even if you have a large email list, the likelihood of your emails being opened is becoming increasingly slim.

With RSS, your messages won’t ever get filtered and have a much higher chance of actually being read vs. a typical email. And your marketing results can only be better when people actually read your message. You can even incorporate autoresponders in conjunction with RSS.

Including RSS feeds on your content site or blog allows you to add fully dynamic theme-related content to your web pages making your site or blog very popular with the search engines. The constantly updated content is exactly what the search engines crave and helps increase your search engine ranking, driving more traffic to your page.

Probably the best way to use RSS to help your online marketing efforts is to create your own RSS feed. This way your information will be published on any website that is using the RSS feed you are supplying that information to. There’s even automated software to submit your RSS feeds to the various directories that supply the feeds to marketers using them as described above.

RSS is still a relatively unknown method of driving traffic to websites, but is becoming more popular every day. As an internet marketer, this is a great opportunity to take advantage of this new technology before the rest of the online gurus jump on the bandwagon.

Real Estate Marketing with RSS

March 17th, 2008 by admin

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is an increasingly popular marketing method to syndicate real estate website content for clients and prospective clients. RSS enables distribution of website content to third-party websites and RSS news readers.

Newsreader (or feedreader) use is growing rapidly. Newsreader software allows users to grab RSS feeds from various sites and display them to read and use. If you have a My Yahoo! or My MSN page, then chances are, you are already using RSS! The customized items you choose for those pages are syndicated RSS feeds from various news and information sources.

For real estate agents and professionals, RSS has many uses. For example, someone looking for a house or a place to rent can simply use an agent’s RSS feed to keep up with the latest listings. If they see an interesting item, they can click directly to the website for more information. Mortgage brokers can quickly and easily alert RSS subscribers of rate changes or other news.

Some other uses for real estate RSS feeds include: featured homes and commercial properties, rental properties, announcing open houses, virtual tours, mortgage rates, news %26 announcements, and e-newsletters.

RSS is extremely targeted because it is user-controlled and, unlike e-mail, it has a 100%25 delivery rate. Unfortunately, e-mail is quickly losing its marketing power due to e-mail filters and recent anti-spam legislation. Also, an RSS feed is simpler to maintian than an e-mail list. There is no address lists to maintain and no software needed to send messages, and no risk of spam problems.

RSS can also help with the marketing of your website though traditional search engines.

Because your website (through RSS feeds) has more “fresh” content, your website will be indexed more frequently by search engine spiders. Therefore, anything that you add to your website will be picked up by search engines that much faster.

RSS is a growing technology that should be taken seriously. Start early and reap the benefits of RSS marketing today!

Raise Your Website Traffic with RSS - Blogs and YAHOO! Part 2.

March 14th, 2008 by admin

In our first part of this article, we raised the question of whether blogging and its distribution tool, RSS feeds, are really useful for Internet and Search Engine Promotion. Are RSS feeds and blogs really the next big thing in web marketing, distribution, and content creation–or are they just hype?
There is a lot of hype around RSS, blogs, and derivative technologies like podcasting. But are they really useful to the serious Internet marketer or are they just the subjects used by marketers looking to create new products to grab our hard-earned marketing dollars.
We also covered the objections and reservations from some Internet marketers about the usefulness of RSS feeds and blogs to the bottom-line of their ebusinesses. This can be contrasted to our discovery of people like Willie Crawford and companies like Weblogs, which generate 6- and 7-figure incomes from blogs, RSS, and related technologies with Google Adsense.
To illustrate if the typical Internet marketers–not just web gurus–can benefit from blogs and RSS feeds, I promised to share my experiences with my new sites not yet optimized for the search engines.
With virgin websites, I could observe the traffic pulling power of blogging, pinging, and RSS. If you would like to read or familiarize yourself with Part 1 of this article, you can read it at…

To test the effectiveness of the ability of RSS feeds and blogs to attract and drive traffic to my web properties, I did some quick and insightful research on the topic. Brandon Hong’s Marketing Rampage with Blogs and RSS was the resource best enabled me to understand the techno-jargon associated with blogs and RSS feeds. Believe me, I have a 10-year background in information technology, and I can’t make heads or tails out of the alphabet soup served up by tech geeks on blog and RSS media.
Plus, I run a very busy SEO consultancy and virtual real estate (VRE Adsense

Raise Your Website Traffic with RSS - Blogs and YAHOO! Part 1.

March 10th, 2008 by admin

It is the trend du jour. They are the subject of pundit press, guru glare, and is ready for mainstream adoption. RSS feeds and their communication kin the blog — are bandied about as the next big thing.

Everywhere you look there are articles and ebooks touting the electronic affinity and high value of these two forms of media creation and distribution. However can these two forms of digital media drive more traffic to your site, or — are they just hype?

Blogs are short for web logs and are like daily dairies on the web. Blogs started out as ways for Internet reality types to share their lives with other people on the web, without having to learn very complicated web design applications like Dreamweaver or Microsoft FrontPage.

While on the other hand RSS feeds are the natural extension of Blogs. RSS without getting into all the arguments over the name (for the purpose of this article) stands for Really Simple Syndication.

RSS feeds can take your blog postings and syndicate a preview of your blog headlines all over the Internet. Therefore in theory RSS feeds can drive traffic to your blogs and websites similar to how search engines have become major marketing channels.

If your blogs headlines are syndicated on major high traffic websites, RSS directories and Internet Portals it could be another major source of traffic to your website. But how effective is blog marketing to the average Internet marketer who doesn’t have a major personal brand name like John Reese, Yanik Silver, or Dr. Ken Evoy?

This question is reflected in the concerns of bottom-line focused Stephanie McIntyre, president of eSales Unlimited, an eBay Power Seller, auction trainer and coach. Stephanie has generated over $200,000 in profitable sales on eBay and has low tolerance for marketing hype.

“I am not convinced that blogging can really drive traffic or profitable sales states Ms. McIntyre. Internet Gurus like James Maduk haven’t convinced me that I can really make money with a blog.”

She isn’t alone in her skepticism. Many online business people are confused why all this hype is being created about blogs and RSS feeds. Many wonder if they can really deliver in their potential to drive more traffic and sales to business orientated Internet websites.

In short, can blogs and RSS boost really boost our website traffic? I put the technology to the test in the last four weeks to get some definite answers.

I found blogs are having some major income impact on the bottom-line of some companies and business people.

Despite many reservations by some Netpreneurs blogs and RSS feeds have been boosting the bottom-lines of some marketers. Willie Crawford, a well known Internet marketer generates over $1000 dollars a day from mostly blog generated Adsense

1. RSS feeds can bypasses email - Eat your hearts out! Rss feeds can be read by desktop software and delivered right to your prospect everytime they turn on their PC

2. RSS feeds allow you to syndicate content rich news in your niche market and attract targeted prospects

3. People who subscribe to newsfeeds are generally in the higher income bracket and educated. They want to find news and information to solve their problems. Can that person be YOU?

4. E-mail doesn’t allow yourself to be branded all over the Net. With RSS feeds, your content gets circulated/sydnicated and you can brand yourself as an expert.

Internet Marketing Strategy News: Syndicate Your Content to Increase Your Traffic and Conversion Rates

February 24th, 2008 by admin

Articles about the benefits of using RSS for content syndication are popping up all over the media. How will RSS fit into your Internet marketing strategy?

RSS is Really Simple Syndication, a new online tool for promoting your information to wider audiences.

Syndication is not a new idea. You often see columns or cartoons in more than one newspaper. TV shows get sold to cable networks and to other countries.

The idea is to reach an audience you would not otherwise have access to. Since there are millions of people online–88%25 of all economically active Americans are online every day–you are probably not reaching the maximum audience for your content.

There are people online searching for the products and services you provide. To reach them you have to be found when they search on those keywords or phrases that describe what you do.

To syndicate successfully online you need two things

1. Good content people will want to read

2. A way to get this content out to the widest possible audience - RSS

Let’s look at the content part first. Where will it come from? What do you have to say? Why would people want to read your information?

Every business has a wealth of information about their industry, their product or service or tips on how to do something better. There are newsworthy stories in every business. It may take someone with an eye for what is newsworthy, but it is there.

The Internet recently romped past TV and newspapers to become the number one choice for news and information in the 18 - 54 year age group. Yahoo! News is now has the largest online news audience - bigger than CNN, the BBC, New York Times or USA Today.

A well-written press release that is optimized for inclusion in the news engines can get you a page one result on your keyword in 24 hours! Adding this content to your website gets these press releases indexed by the search engines and they start to show up in the natural search results as well. You definitely should make this part of your Internet marketing strategy.

Now to the syndication part:

Once you’ve generated the articles–you’ve put them into the news engines and they are on your website–how do you reach “unknown audiences” who may be interested in your product?

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is the answer. It is a new technology that can be used easily, even by the most non-technical person. Add an RSS feed to your “Latest News” feature and make it available to others looking for this kind of content. There are search engines for RSS feeds now. People looking for content know where to find the RSS feeds. All you have to do is make yours available. Soon your content appears on related websites all over the Internet–sites you did not even know about. Interested potential customers start to subscribe to your feeds. Your traffic and your conversions soar.
