You Can Read The News Online Rather Than Checking The Newspaper

September 18th, 2008 by admin

Where do you get your news? More and more people are reading their news online today and bypassing the actual newspaper. For some it is convenience, and for others it is a matter of time.

Reading the news online becomes very simple with the varying news feeds available from major search engines like Yahoo and Google. Subscribing to a news RSS feed is also extremely easy allowing and end user to receive updates and notifications in regards to any news or featured column a user has subscribed to.

For example, if you want to set up an RSS feed to pull any news regarding the presidential election, a particular person in the news, or any ongoing story, it is as simple as a couple of click. Scanning the home page of Google news takes merely a moment and delving in to a particular topic is never more than a couple pages away. Very simple.

Reading the news online also gives the reader access to all the top news sources, which makes getting a more rounded opinion on a topic easier to acquire. And searching for a topic is also incredibly easy.

Reading an actual newspaper only gives the reader the story that those writers have presented to you. It is also more mess, more paper, and less story. However, there are still benefits to reading the actual newspaper.

For starters it is easier to read printed font than it is pixilated font, which is what you see on the computer screen. It is certainly more personal to hold and read a physical paper rather than scroll around Google.

Reading the paper, sipping coffee, and wearing a nice pair of eyeglasses are essentially a Sunday morning tradition for many. And giving that up for the internet is not an easy task. Also folks who read the paper while commuting on the train or bus have a hard time trading in the old fashioned paper version for the tiny font on their iphones or blackberries.

So while the internet makes it very simple for us to browse current events and vary our news sources, there are still times when the newspaper is still the winning choice.

Many people set up content syndication to update in their My Yahoo, or Google page. For example, Google Groups is a free online community and discussion group service.
