Tips for Promoting Your RSS Feed

May 31st, 2008 by admin

Copyright 2006 Sharon Housley
There is little argument from webmasters and publishers that RSS brings in traffic. So once you’ve made the leap and created a feed, how do you tell your visitors about the feed?
1. Submit Your RSS Feed to RSS Directories.
This will not only increase the number of sites linking to your website and increasing your link popularity, it will also increase the RSS feeds profile. A number of RSS search engines and RSS directories exist that allow you to freely submit RSS feeds. Feeds are generally categorized and grouped together by subject. Web surfers looking for RSS feeds about a specific subject will often search the RSS directories, to locate a feed that matches their specific criteria. Topic specific RSS feed and podcasting directories are also emerging. Choose a web feed’s category carefully and only submit relevant feeds to topic specific directories.
A large list of directories is located at http://www.rss-specifications.com/rss-submission.htm
Example of Topic Specific - http://www.realty-feeds.net or http://www.religious-podcasts.net
2. Explain RSS
While you have finally figured RSS out, some of your visitors may not have. The concept while brilliant, can be a bit confusing for the beginner. The concept of RSS feeds might be completely new to some of your website visitors. Hence it is generally good practice to walk website visitors through the steps of locating, subscribing and reading an RSS feed. It is generally a good practice to include a page on your website that contains a general explanation on RSS and details how website visitors can subscribe to an RSS feed.
Sample Explanation page that can be used to on your website: http://www.rss-specifications.com/rss-subscriptions.htm . RSS specifications has authorized the replication of this webpage. It can be republished, simply insert your RSS feeds or otherwise customize the material to explain RSS to your website visitors.
3. Graphic on Website
Since the conception of RSS, bright graphic flags have been used to denote the location of an RSS feed. Now instinctively, website visitors frequently look for a colorful flag on websites. The looks of the flags have changed but a variety of options exists. When you add the image, be sure to link to the location of the RSS feed. Some webmasters use chicklets to indicate the presence of feeds, web surfers click on the chicklet that relates to their RSS feed reader or news aggregator and the feed is added to their list of feeds. Others feel that the volume of chicklets simply add confusion, and opt for a single relevant RSS graphic.
4. Press
As with any important addition to your company, it is completely appropriate to send a press release to let the media know you have RSS feeds available for specific content. This will often garner a little attention. Additionally, key news editors may opt to subscribe to your RSS feed in order to stay abreast of your latest corporate news. Considering the possibility of these subscriptions, makes a press release to signal the availability of an RSS feed simple common corporate sense.
5. Newsletters
Include a mention in your e-mail newsletter that content is now available via an RSS feed. Many newsletters subscribers appreciate an alternative subscription method and will subscribe to a web feed as well.
6. Auto Discovery
Some of your website visitors might be web savvy. Be sure to include an auto-discovery tag in the HTML header of each web page. Many RSS Readers will automatically discover that an RSS feed is available for specific content and notify the website visitor and ask them if they wish to subscribe.
7. Brand a Newsreader
Distribute pre-loaded RSS readers branded to your company name. The big benefit to brandable newsreaders is that you can include all of your RSS feeds in it. Any downloaders will have immediate access to your RSS feeds in the branded news reader.
Brandable Readers - http://www.deskshare.com or http://www.customreader.com
8. Blog
If you have a blog or know bloggers, be sure to share with them that you have added an RSS feed for specific content. Blogs are a great vehicle to spread the word. Marketers instantly understood the power of word of mouth, but few marketers understand the movement of blog to mouth. This growing phenomenon has added credibility to online blog endorsements.
In order to reap the benefits of an RSS feed, it is important the feed be properly publicized. Taking simple steps to promote an RSS feed will go a long way in ensuring a feeds adoption.

S.e.o. And Sponsored Links In A Fantasy World

May 29th, 2008 by admin

Attempting to write for a Marketing Online Company can sometimes be a frustrating task. Once you have covered all your bases, the creativity just doesn’t seem to appear . What should I write about, you think to yourself. You think about all of the topics that you can write about, Pay Per Click or Flash Design, but writing about these will only give straight facts, you want to write about something fun, inventive and something that will capture the readers eye . Then you think, I could write a fairy tale . How can one resist a Internet Marketing fairy tale? They are always so cute and sometimes funny. Maybe that is what I will write about a fairy tale with a happy Marketing Online ending. You could even put in some funny banter between the gremlins and the fairies . I am guessing that the general idea of the fairy tale would sound something similar to this, without the dialogue of course . A long time ago, back in 1993, the Internet was just starting its revolutionary movement. Unfortunately, the gremlins also thought of the revolution as the pot of gold, and declared Internet war with the fairies . The fairies did everything in lines of their moral code and felt that their PPC Search Engine was a morally acceptable and ethical way to go about Marketing Online , where the gremlins, who had no morals and practiced black hat Marketing Online , thought that they could do whatever they wanted. Little did they know, the fairies had a plan to destroy the gremlins Web Development, banning them from the Internet forever . Although this was the Clinton era and jobs were plentiful, the fairies thought that being revealed as black hat Marketing Online would ruin their careers in Marketing Online. Hard work was put into the fairies Pay Per Click and Flash Design, gruesome hours of processing minute details had to work so they could accomplish their goals . After many, many months the fairies came up with a plan. The fairies would revitalize their Flash Design turning their fairy tale page into a fascinating and glorious page that not a single person could rip their eyes off of, forcing targeted traffic to visit their site. Two years of hard work and planning resulted in a dream, while the gremlins kept practicing black hat Marketing Online and ended up being shut down by google, which resulted in them losing all of their clients . The gremlins are what we call spammers now days. Although the gremlins were unaware of the repercussions, of their wrong-doings, the fairies were not, and they enjoyed a giggle over their fairy tea every night, this tea that they drank made them see green objects flying around the room . They had a nickname for their tea, it was absinth, coming from the word absent, because their minds were absent of the days hard work when they drank it. This tea also gave them great ideas for their sites in their dreams so the fairies were very creative the next morning during what most of us mortals would call a hang over. The fairies understood the Marketing Online world more than Internet gurus, so they understood what would happen if they were to become accustomed to the black hat methods utilized by the gremlins . Unfortunate for the gremlins, they didn’t take the time to learn the ins and outs of Marketing Online, they wanted money and they wanted it now, so they practiced black hat Marketing Online . The day finally came for the fairies to unveil their masterpiece Flash Design. The world stood in awe of their Flash Design done so well that Marketing Online basically worked for itself, with little help from the fairies. The gremlins were so unhappy they attempted every black hat Marketing Online trick they knew but none of them worked, due to the vast outreach of the fairies website , the fairies ruined their business, but by the time they realized it, all humans idolized the fairies so the gremlins could not get within even a towns distance away from them. The rest of the gremlins days were spent underground due to the shame of their unethical business practices never to be seen or heard from again. The fairies and the mortals lived happily ever after in the world of Marketing Online .

Ppc Management And Flash Design Go Hand In Hand

May 28th, 2008 by admin

It is tough to live in a large city . When you are a small town girl, used to the ocean and mountains, trading all that in can be painful. Trading the mountains and oceans in for a career dream can be agonizing, you hoped to find this dream job as a market analyst for a Marketing Online company in the Pacific Northwest, but to no avail, you found it in Chicago . Most Pay Per Click firms prefer their employees to have four to five years work experience prior to joining their team, so you should feel lucky to have the dream job as an analyst for a Marketing Online company . It would be the perfect job, if not for the location. The people at your Marketing Online company are great, they treat you with respect and dignity. The only downfall of the position your in is your lack of Web Design experience. If you did have Flash Design experience, it would open up many more doors for your career. Why didn’t you think of that in college? You tell yourself that you should have taken Flash Design and graphic design classes in college . Both of those would have boosted your bargaining power, as well as your hiring status.
You miss the country with its wide-open spaces, and flowing fields of wheat. You miss the redwoods and the green of the jungle in the spring. You look at your current life, you can high five your neighbor while you are showering, the only people who speak to you on the streets are bums who are begging you for money or the person who just got off of their S.E.O. jobs just to yell at you for stepping in their path. You might think to yourself, maybe they are going through the same thing I am, missing the salty ocean air, or the smell of rain or the sunset over Mount Hood, or the white sand beaches with the dolphins swimming in the distance . The people in the Pacific Northwest are the kindest you will meet, they welcome everyone, no matter where you have been or what you look like . The atmosphere of the city is much calmer and relaxed . In Chicago, everyone is always worried about their jobs as Pay Per Click or their Flash Design, everyone’s attitude is edgy and angry with no morals towards others feelings . The only thing you smell when you go to the beach is feces and garbage. If you attempt to sit on the beach you will more than likely cut your bum open on a bum’s crack pipe or a broken bottle , and you definitely cannot walk alone down the beach at night, for fear that someone will rape and murder you then throw you in the lake, never to be found again.
Yet you moved here for career advancement in Marketing Online. You begin to ask yourself , what is more important, my career or my happiness? When you weigh your options out, it always comes out, as your happiness is more important. You ask yourself, why am I still here? What magnificent force is holding you back from moving to the Pacific Northwest? Is it your Pay Per Click position, besides the fact that you don’t have Flash Design knowledge? Is it the thrill of living in a big city, even though you know that you do not fit in? These questions, and more, are racing in your thoughts all the time . There is something holding me back from finding a Pay Per Click position in the Pacific Northwest? Then you remember the reason. You see a monkey playing on a branch screaming and yelling that it is the king of the world . The monkey turns into the president who is taking all of the middle classes money and turning it into his gold mine. There aren’t any Marketing Online jobs in the Pacific Northwest. Then you realize how lucky you are to have the job that you do, even if the city makes you unhappy . The president is to blame for your unhappiness. Write him a letter, maybe he’ll understand.

Sponsored Links And Internet Marketing Are Best When Utilized Together

May 28th, 2008 by admin

One might wonder what is Marketing Online. In regards to Marketing Online, how does Pay Per Click and Web Development fit in? If you have the time I will fill you in on the details of S.E.O.. Marketing Online is a strategy used for companies to get high rankings on Google, Yahoo and MSN, three of the main search engines . Marketing Online utilizes many different strategies to receive high rankings on Google. Am I boring you? Good, because I am boring myself as well . I understand what Pay Per Click and Marketing Online are, and I know that I could learn a lot more, but apparently not here.

If one were interested in inquiring about soccer, non profit organizations, volunteering for the needy, standing up for one’s civil rights, or running a marathon for the better of man kind, you can ask me. But when it comes to Sponsored Links, I have little insight into the world of Pay Per Click . I think that I need to try harder, ask more questions and be more assertive when it comes to my job . Someone who had a lot of insight into the soul once said life is what happens to you while you are busy making other plans. I wish I could live by his saying and just follow my dreams and forget about the plans that I seem to keep making for myself.

Working at the Web Development firm seriously isn’t bad. I take my job for granted ever day . With the economy in the downfall that it is in, I should cherish my job, be grateful that I have one, and not complain that it isn’t exactly what I want to do.

So you want to know what Marketing Online is . Marketing Online is the method of improving the amount and quality of traffic to a website from a search engine such as Google or Yahoo for organic search results for targeted keywords, in order to attract targeted traffic . Marketing Online is the process of considering how search engine algorithms are utilized and what the target customer of a certain product is searching for. You also might be wondering what Pay Per Click is as well as Marketing Online. Here is your answer . Marketing Online is a marketing model utilized by search engines by which marketers only pay when the targeted traffic clicks on their link to visit their site. The trick to Marketing Online is finding a keyword that is specific to your targeted market, but find the keyword that costs the least per click with the most traffic .

I know that I am an intelligent girl, I know that I am capable of being great at anything I do, so why do I argue with myself about my future? I guess only time will tell where I belong and what I will be doing while I am here on this earth .

Learning Pay Per Click And Graphic Design Can Be A Daunting Task

May 28th, 2008 by admin

Lately my life has been a train wreck. I have a hard time attempting to accomplish anything I put my mind to. Although I have my B.S. in Marketing, I feel the need to take Flash Design classes just to have a grip on what I am doing. Currently I am employed at a Sponsored Links firm in Chicago. I like my job, but not enough to call it a career . I am concerned that because I am shy and keep to myself that I am hurting my position at my company. When I first heard about S.E.O., I was in college and never even thought that I would be in the field one day.

Yet here I am, two years later working as what was supposed to be a market analyst, but more along the lines of a secretary. After graduation I had high hopes of becoming something, but S.E.O. was not one of them. I know that you have to put your time in before you can actually get into a real position, but that was what my other job was for. Every now and then, when I have a bad day at work, I ask myself why I quit my other job. Working for a Sponsored Links is fine but I had something going for me at my previous position . I know that I am complaining, and I don’t have a right to . I guess I just never imagined myself working with S.E.O. following the previous work in finance that I did.

Maybe one of these days I’ll actually realize that I have a voice and use it to my advantage. I would say all the things on my mind . I do not have a problem utilizing Sponsored Links as a 9 to 5 career. I do have a problem with people treating me like I am twelve . There is one person in particular whom bothers me, smiling at me condescendingly all the time. I understand that if this is my biggest problem then I am a lucky girl. The thing is, it’s not . My boyfriend, whom also worked in S.E.O. as well, have been having many more arguments than we used to, which is still not a lot. He is always mad at me for not living up to my dreams . He understands because he worked in Web Development too. He quit when he was offered a position as an engineer at a firm downtown . I long to put my two weeks in at the S.E.O. company.

One day I will figure out what it is exactly that I want to do . I am terrified that one day I will just pick up and leave everything, without any regrets, and also leaving my boyfriend behind. I am somewhat of a free spirit . I really have to figure out my next career move, and if it is going to involve S.E.O. or Web Development.

PortalFeeder - Self Growth and Business Development Brings Success

PortalFeeder - Self Growth and Business Development Brings Success

Change is essential part of our lives. It is only through change that we can grow, develop and solve problems as they arise. Changes transform us so that they dictate the way we live life. Although change is worrisome, change should be welcomed as a good thing

Sometimes, bad habits spring from an unwillingness to accept change. Allowing these habits to take root in our lives usually leads to bigger problems (and changes) such as depression, physical ailments and possibly even death.

Our unwillingness to accept change is a real problem because it not only affects the person rejecting change and growth but the resistance affects everyone around them as well. A negative mood can quickly influence the moods of everyone close by.

If you want to have a long, happy, fruitful life you must be willing to go with the flow of changes in your life. Life can flow harmoniously if you welcome it with open arms. Problems are inevitable in our progress through life. You cannot run from them, hide from them, or avoid them. It is not how many problems you have or don’t have that determine your quality of life, but rather how you react to them.

Because change has, for many people, a negative connotation, people often have a hard time dealing with it. To see change as an opportunity instead of a set back, we must change the way we think about it. It must be said that some people have personality types that enable them to deal with change and challenge more easily than others. Those of us who have the greatest difficulty with accepting and growing through change are also those who can benefit the most from change as we seize opportunites that once we might have rejected.

Deal with Change
Maintain control of your emotions. Do not deny your emotions, but keep a tight leash on them. Don’t let your emotions control you, but think with your head. When you are letting fear, pain, anger and anxiety control your thoughts you will make faulty judgments and therefore experience poor outcomes.

Your attitude about the change will have a direct impact on how you handle it:
Do you see this change as a substitute for what you are used to or as an opportunity to grow and move to another level in your life?
What good can come of this situation?
Where can you go from here that will be a productive path for your life?

A common example of a significant life challenge is debt. Too many times, people think the changes that have to be made to remedy the financial burden are impossible because it will require major lifestyle changes, which scare them. However, a helpful tip may be just what you need to get the ball rolling towards debt reduction. There are many suggestions available on the internet or at the library that really wouldn’t make a major impact on your lifestyle, but will bring peace of mind and eventually lower debt.

One good way to learn to adapt to change is by starting to make gradual changes in your life. Start with something small like a new hairstyle. Perhaps try an exercise plan or a new diet. Make a strong commitment to yourself and record your progress (and setbacks!) At the end of the first month you will see a significant shift in the way you think about change (and you’ll probably feel better physically, also).

You could change your lifestyle by changing one of your rituals. Instead of turning on the TV when you first come home, try picking up the phone and calling a friend, going to hang out, hop on the treadmill, or read a good book. In short start to make active choices about how you spend your time rather than being passive.

As you try new things and make minor changes in your life, you’ll be much more confident when the inevitable changes come your way. You will also notice a brighter outlook on life and you might even be healthier.

What you think dictates your actions. As you make positive changes in your thought process, you will notice that your actions will be more positive as well. Get your guide to search the soul.

The most common problem regarding web site hosting is that there’s no direct relationship between data transfer usage and server resources usage. An erroneous script, or simply a program that performs lots of operations, intensively employs databases, can bog down a server even though it produces a relatively small result and thus the data transfer used is quite reduced. The average customer will assume that buying of data transfer basically translates into not having to worry about web site hosting even again, but There are many other files and configurations that need to be backed up too, such as e-mail, databases, spam filter settings, etc. he has no idea that he’s actually very much confined by the CPU and memory.

The Stampede Secret of Marketing Using RSS Feeds

May 27th, 2008 by admin

You’ve either heard about RSS Feeds in site design or marketing forums lately or you’ve seen little RSS or XML buttons popping up on websites everywhere.

Click on one of those website buttons and you’ll end up with a page full of code that looks a lot like html.

Even though it ‘looks like Greek’ (or should I say ‘geek’) you decide not to give up, and continue on to research RSS by search engine results.

This however, only frustrates you further, as your head swims over all the strange terminology and outdated
articles leading as far back as 1998.

XML,
RDF,
RSS,
Atom,
Syndication Feed,
Aggregator,
Parsing,
Validators,
News feed,
web feed,
site feed,
and more!

Your browser couldn’t display it, you can’t make sense of it, so you eventually give up, saying: “This is
not for me! This only applies to the techno-geeks, or the big content sites - not for me or my market!”

Wrong! Creating and marketing with RSS Feeds can be both extremely profitable and incredibly easy!

Originally RSS Feeds were created for broadcasting stations and newspapers, but once the ‘average Joe’ discovered them and started ’spreading the news’, their popularity surged to the masses!

There has been a lot of speculation lately that the next generation browsers (Navigator and Explorer) will contain the ability to read feeds directly. If this isn’t a testament to the growing popularity of RSS Feeds, I don’t know what else could convince you!

Position yourself ahead of the pack on this RSS Feed phenomenon!

Syndicating your RSS Feeds to Directories

May 26th, 2008 by admin

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is an increasingly popular method to syndicate website content and promote websites. Just as your web site can (and should) be submitted to search engines, your RSS feeds can also be submitted to RSS feed-specific directories and search tools.
Many RSS search engines and directories allow you to freely submit RSS feeds. Feed directories are generally categorized by subject. Web surfers looking for RSS feeds about a specific subject will often search the RSS directories to find feeds that match their criteria. Topic-specific and podcasting RSS directories are also gaining popularity.
As with many things in life, quality trumps quantity. It is always best to submit your RSS feeds to reputable RSS feed directories. A good criteria is to check the directory’s Google Page Rank. Good directory placement increase the number of sites linking to your website, increases your link popularity, and raises your feed’s profile.
When submitting to RSS feed directories, keep the following in mind:
Make sure your RSS feed is compliant! The best feed in the world won’t be read if the feed code is bad. Use a website like http://feedvalidator.org to make sure your code is valid.
Carefully follow the submission guidelines provided by each directory. Make sure you are not submitting an unrelated feed, a feed with bad code, or a feed with poor descriptions. Carefully choose your feed’s category and only submit to relevant categories.
Try to find niche directories suitable for your feed. For example, if your web site covers Real Estate, focus your efforts into finding Real Estate RSS directories, and submit your feed there.
To find RSS directories, do a search for ‘rss directories’ in your favorite search engine. Several web sites contain comprehensive directory lists that you can use as a starting point.
In order to reap the full benefits of an RSS feed, proper publicity is important. It takes some work to find and submit your feeds, but the benefits in web site traffic and link popularity will make it well worth the effort!
